As every spring, the Debrecen Poetry Festival will be held this year – for the 22nd time now. Between April 8-12, the Méliusz Juhász Péter Library, the Déri Museum and the Kölcsey Center will be hosting a variety of programs.
The Festival focuses on Lőrinc Szabó, who was born 125 years ago this year. Among other things, the Ady High School will be commemorating the former student of the Reformed College with a program and thematic city walks.
This year’s highlights include the Poetry Commando, within the framework of which young contemporary writers and poets will hold unusual literature classes in several schools in the city, as well as the “Cake Poetry” initiative jointly initiated by Méliusz and Debrecen’s pastry shops and restaurants, during which guests will receive a free poem with their coffee.
